Where one door closes, another one opens. As NBC announces their decision to ditch the Murder, She Wrote reboot, the network gears up for a Wizard of Oz inspired series instead.
The new drama will be based on the books by L. Frank Baum and will be called Emerald City, according to reports. The show is set to start with a ten episode run, but chairman Bob Greenblatt is hoping for enough support for a much longer stretch.
“Emerald City could be over after 10 episodes if we feel we’ve plumbed the depths of what we want to do with that show. Or given that there are a number of books to draw from, we could have Emerald City on the air for five years,” he said during a press tour.
NBC describes the show as a “dramatic and modern re-imagining of the tales that include lethal warriors, competing kingdoms, and the infamous wizard as we’ve never seen him before.”
With the success of Once Upon A Time, Grimm and similar series, the odds are definitely in favor of the news series, and we could very soon be walking down the yellow brick road again with Dorothy and Toto.
Stay tuned to find out who will be donning the ruby slippers and when to tune in for a journey to the Land of Oz!
