Exciting things are coming to NBC. This is true especially for those of you who are fans of fantasy programming. In the 2014-2015 line up, two classic stories will be hitting the small screen.
First is Emerald City. This 10-part miniseries will be darker and “more thrilling” than the versions most people are used to. We will be following a “headstrong” 20-year-old Dorothy Gale as she faces a bloody battle of “epic” proportions. If this does well, it is likely that the series will be expanded. There is plenary of books for adapting after all. “[G]iven the books there are to draw on, it could be on for five years,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt claimed. No date has been set for the release of this program.
Besides the Emerald City, the musical Peter Pan will fly into your homes. Like last year’s The Sound of Music, this show will be performed live. It will air on December 4, 2014.
There will be at least one non-fantasy show – The Slap. Airing as ‘an eight-episode miniseries’ viewers will explore the fallout following the slapping of a child at a family barbeque. There will also be an exploration of legal proceedings in this very politically correct world.
