NCIS, televisions most watched drama, is spinning off again, this time taking on New Orleans.
Deadline first broke the news that the successful franchise would be extending its reach and setting up a field office in New Orleans. The new series titled (assumedly) NCIS: New Orleans, will center “on the NCIS New Orleans office which handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle.”
As to why New Orleans was chosen as the location for the new show, Deadline reports that “New Orleans was picked as a backdrop for the show because of its pedigree of a rich setting of music, fun and debauchery that makes it a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble.”
NCIS: New Orleans will be executive produced by current NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg and series star Mark Harmon.
The two part spinoff episode will be shot in February and will broadcast in the spring.
