Nerdy News Nine: September 11, 2015

Welcome to a new column here at PopWrapped! Here I will be rounding up some of the best geeky happenings in the last week. From Time-Turners to Time Lords, the Force to Frodo, and Captain Kirk to Captain America -expect all things nerdy right here on PopWrapped!

Let’s get to it!

#9: ABC released their 13 Days of Halloween lineup.

It’s the second-most-wonderful time of the year! Movie lovers will appreciate that Frankenweenie and ParaNorman will play alongside older Halloween classics like Hocus Pocus and my personal favorites, Sleepy Hollow and The Nightmare Before Christmas this year.

#8: Wonder Woman is going to start filming in November.

Hallelujah. Now to work on that  Black Widow stand-alone…

#7: Ellen DeGeneres talked about the plot of Finding Dory.

Either she talked about that or the tots re-winding Maury. Either way, it’s Ellen and it should be interesting.

#6: Mark Ruffalo says the Hulk won’t be in Captain America: Civil War.

Although it’s a bummer (because who doesn’t love Ruffalo Hulk) Bruce Banner’s story will be explored in greater detail at a later date. Let’s be honest, though, there are enough superheroes in Civil War already. (Here’s looking at you, Spider-Man.)

#5: Bloomsbury released some pictures from the upcoming illustrated Harry Potter books.

This would be higher on the list if it were closer to the release date. They’re just teasing us right now, which is both rude and super appreciated.

#4: All kinds of Muppet drama happened.

The Muppets have their own magnificent cult following, and the news of Kermit and Miss Piggy’s breakup was absolutely groundbreaking. Prepping for their new show (which starts September 22nd) the Muppets are schmoozing with all kinds of celebs, including TeamCarter’s new Dubsmash with Hayley Atwell and Clark Gregg.

#3: Hogwarts term started, JK Rowling said some weird stuff, and a Harry Potter bar opened.

So it turns out we’ve all been saying Voldemort wrong. (But I’m American so I kind of just swallow that ‘t’ anyway) This is the age of the Hufflepuff (who won the Pottermore House Cup). We’re all going to Toronto for Butterbeer! James Sirius Potter was sorted into Gryffindor and Teddy Lupin is a Hufflepuff and Head Boy. This is what I would’ve done if I were going back to Hogwarts.

#2: Star Wars released a bunch of toys.

I’m dying for this BB-8. It’s officially on the top of my Christmas list. There’s also a build-your-own lightsaber kit, Nerf blasters, costumes, and action figures. Plus, Legos and Hot Wheels! (Still no word on Barbies.)

#1: Chris Evans says he’ll keep playing Captain America!

I’ll admit, I cried a little at this information. I love Chris as Steve Rogers and couldn’t imagine a Marvel Cinematic Universe without him. In this interview, he also talked about how much he loves Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie.
