Netflix Casts An Ex-Anarchist For Marvel’s “Luke Cage”

Netflix recently announced a new series, Luke Cage, from Marvel, and the casting has now begun. Theo Rossi of Sons of Anarchy has landed a role as a series regular, and Rosario Dawson of Daredevil will reprise her role as Claire Temple, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rossi played Juan Carlos “Juice” Ortiz in Sons of Anarchy for seven years, and will take on the role of Shades, AKA Alvarez, in the new series. The character is described as menacing and relentless, as well as manipulative, controlling and street smart.

Dawson’s character, Claire Temple, is the romantic interest of Luke Cage in the comic books, but at this point it is unclear if this will continue into the series.

Luke Cage focuses on a man who was wrongly accused of a crime and, after an experiment goes wrong, obtains super-strength. With this new found strength, he escapes prison and becomes a superhero, who is then hired by others.

This is the third Marvel series that Netflix has brought to the masses, with Cheo Hodari Coker taking the reins and producing the show.
