Netflix’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Sequel Releases Its First Trailer

Check out the action-packed first trailer for the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, scheduled to hit Netflix and selected IMAX theatres in February.

Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, fascinated western viewers when it first came out in 2000. It was a traditional Chinese Wuxia film, and its beautiful aesthetics, compelling story, and resounding soundtrack captivated viewers all over the world. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film, in addition to three other Oscar trophies.

So when Netflix announced that they have gotten the rights to make a sequel, fans of the film rejoiced but of course there was apprehension in how the material would be treated, especially since Ang Lee won’t return to direct.

And now the first trailer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Sword Of Destiny has been released:

As expected Michelle Yeoh who played Yu Shu Lien, one of the main characters in the original takes center stage. The action sequences are explosive, and we get to see glimpses of new characters like Silent Wolf played by Donnie Yen and Glee‘s Harry Shum Jr. as Tie Fang.

The new film is directed by Yuen Woo-ping and the screenplay is written by John Fusco who also wrote the story for Netflix’s Marco Polo.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon : The Sword Of Destiny is set to have a simultaneous premier on Netflix and a few selected IMAX cinemas on February 26, 2016.
