Rejoice muggles and Potter heads! Because the first instalment of the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, has been given a release date. It is set to hit theatres on November 18, 2016, so remember to mark your calendars.

The new movie is going to be written by J.K. Rowling, and will be set in New York City. We didn’t really get to see much of the wizarding world outside of Britain in the books and movies, so this will be a unique take on the Harry Potter universe. The film will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, the author of one of Harry Potter’s textbooks, and it is set 70 years before the events in the Harry Potter series. The book and the author has often been referred to in the series of novels, and J.K. Rowling published a reproduction of the fictional textbook in 2001.  In the film version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Scamander’s name appeared in the Marauder’s map.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson who plays Hermione Granger has expressed interest in appearing on a cameo for the spin-off, while fellow co-star Daniel Radcliffe who plays titular character Harry Potter has said that “I would obviously never close the door on something like that entirely, because it would be foolish to,” during an interview on CBS’ The Couch.

Now how about the last of the trio? Rupert Grint who plays Ron Weasley has not yet said anything about a cameo but in a recent interview he had this to say about the new movie “”Yeah I think it will be really fun,” and then he added , “It’s a really interesting spin on it.”
