New Kids On The Block, TLC & Nelly Bring The Main Event To Toronto

What do New Kids On The Block, Nelly and TLC all have in common? They just rocked the crap out of Toronto last night, that’s what.

“It’s getting hot in heeerrreee, so take off all your clothes.”

Nelly rapped it and the men did it… went shirtless, that is. Almost caused a mass flooding in the streets of Toronto over the last 2 nights.

The New Kids On The Block invited Nelly and TLC to be apart of “The Main Event Tour”, which has been hitting North American cities for the last few months. Of course they saved the best for last –  sorry, ‘Murica! We’re their second home; I mean, Donnie Wahlburg even has his own restaurant here. What, what!

Speaking of the restaurateur, Donnie was spotted at Wahlburgers on both days, serving up some burgers, doing some interviews, hosting a party, and chilling with his fans. Joey McIntyre even stopped by for a post show Frappe last night. Totally worth a stop-in, if you’re ever in Toronto.

Anyway, back to the show.

The boy is looking goooooood. Dang, he’s got some muscles. Sadly though, he has no grill; I was looking forward to being temporarily blinded by the bling. He did all his hits and had some kickass back up dancers. I really want to talk about them -these girls had asses, not like stick-thin dancers, but like actual woman bodies and could work it. LOVED THAT!!!! Thanks for shaking real jelly up there.

Bee-autiful ladies. They never replaced Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez and took a minute to emphasize that fact. They looked gorgeous and looked genuinely happy to be back on stage. They sang hits from the beginning, like “What About Your Friends?” as well as “Waterfalls,” “Unpretty,” and “No Scrubs.” Chilli is still drop dead gorgeous, in my humble opinion.

I’ve seen these guys live a million times and it never gets old. This time around they added an EDM feel to the show with nonstop beats the whole time. They started the show off with crowd favourite “Block Party” and of course included classics “You’ve Got the Right Stuff” and “Step by Step.”

It was the little things that stood out during this show. Donnie is a great frontman and works the crowd WELL. Usually it’s him that goes shirtless, but this time it was Joey Mac. Dang, boy, you still got it. Actually, most of the crotch jokes, pelvic thrusts and nudity were from this Joey and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it.

Donnie sang oldie “Lean on Me” while playing the piano. It wasn’t the song that brought tears to eyes but the video montage of him with several fans that have passed. That was unexpected and was so freaking sweet.

Who here remembers 1989? And when I say remember I mean that you were not only alive but consciously aware at that time. Who had the “Hangin’ Tough Live” VHS and replayed the “Cover Girl” part over and over? Who here hated that young bitch in the blue shorts cause you both wanted and NEEDED to be her?! Yeah, me too. I couldn’t hate the cover girl from last night though. She was no more than 6 and cute as f*@k. ARROW + HEART = DONE.

Thanks for the extra sweat, confetti and tinnitus guys. Always a pleasure.
