We had a lot of new music this week to choose from, but we accomplished the daunting task. Featured in this new music piece are: Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, Muse, Michael Buble, Disturbed, Kesha and The Chainsmokers. Muse gave us our favorite offering for the week, but we’ll jump into more detail below. As always, we’ve added the new tracks to our playlist, listen here!
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper
A Star is Born opens October 5th but we’ve been gifted the first single off the soundtrack with ‘Shallow’. It’s a solid song, though it’s strange to hear Bradley Cooper singing. We have a good feeling about the rest of the movie’s soundtrack from this first taste because it’s raw and Lady Gaga is in her element.
Muse
Muse is back with a new single titled ‘Pressure’. We don’t want to show any song too much love but it’s hard not to with this gem. ‘Pressure’ takes us back and reminds us of all the amazing songs Muse has done. It’s got an intense beat and lyrics that will pump you up no matter what situation you’re facing!
Michael Buble
What can we say about this man other then his ability to transport us back to a different era, the golden age of music. Buble has remade ‘When I Fall In Love’ made famous by Doris Day but it’s been sung so many times by greats like Nat King Cole and Celine Dion. What Buble does with it, though, is strip it back to its bare essentials and make us fall in love. He announced a new album as well which means we’ll have even more to love.
Disturbed
Disturbed has been making music since 1994 with a brief break in 2011. The hard rock band is back with an acoustic track ‘A Reason To Fight’ and it’s really good. Disturbed really tugs at our heart strings in their new song and makes us long for ‘A Reason to Fight’. We can’t wait to see what they bring next after what an outstanding song this one is.
Kesha
Kesha’s new song ‘Here Comes the Change’ comes from the soundtrack for ‘On the Basis of Sex’. This song is a powerful and empowering ballad that is really appropriate for Kesha to release. She understands the plight of the track’s lyrics and conveys them with pride. We are here for Kesha and everything she’s become!
The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers have released an LP called Sick Boy with features from Kelsea Ballerini on ‘This Feeling’ and Emily Warren on ‘Side Effects’. This duo has been solid since they first emerged onto the pop music scene but their songs with other artists always seem to be the strongest among their releases. Sick Boy is no exception because the first two songs, mentioned above, are the LP’s highlights while the remaining five tracks are good but nothing outstanding. Our favorite song, if we could download just one, off this LP is ‘Side Effects’ because Warren’s voice is perfect.
