If you’ve watched Harry Potter, or Game of Thrones, or The Hobbit, you probably want your own dragon. But they’re all so noisy and fire breath…y and loud, I hear you cry. Well fear not, because there’s a species of tiny lizard out there that looks like a tiny dragon. And it’s perfect.

The minuscule lizards known as Draco Volans come from Indonesia and has developed flight to escape predators.

The small “wings” allow them to glide around 30 feet in one go, and they use it to catch insects, find mates and escape!

Their wings are nothing like those of bird’s, as they’re actually a set of elongated ribs, which they can extend and retract when needed. Crazy.

They only grow to around 20 centimetres and their territory is only 2 trees, on average, so we don’t need to worry about them going all Smaug on us. It’s all fine.
