The future of the Terminator franchise has been uncertain since the underperformance of Terminator Genisys but things are looking up for fans of the series with this news. Schwarzenegger shared the news at the Cannes FIlm Festival saying, “It is moving forward. He [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie.”
Get excited Terminator fans because the only movies these two have done together of this series were the first two and we can all agree that those two were the best of the series by a long shot. The news is even more exciting because rumors so far are saying that Cameron will be a producer and that should mean we can expect a good amount of involvement from him. More involovement should mean an even better return for the Terminator then we could have ever dreamed from the original sequels planned from Genisys. That film was originally slated to have two sequels to be delivered before Cameron got the rights to the series back but its performance was nearly abysmal and put an indefinite halt on that project. We were sad about that at first but this news more than makes up for it. We'd much rather have a James Cameron Terminator then anything anyone else could come up with.
Fans of the series, is this exciting new for you? Or are you in the camp that believes this story has been told in every way it can be and should be left alone? Only time will tell if Schwarzenegger and Cameron can bring the magic back to this franchise but it's defintely looking up now that they have gotten back together. Keep up with us for more news on the film as it progresses forward with a plot!
