Nick Arneson is a guy who likes to keep busy. As a dad to two kids, he somehow manages to juggle family life with his music career, and never sitting, or getting to sit still, has played a big part in providing him with inspiration for his songs, including new single “Naturally”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

Lyrically, he’s a song-writer whose music at first listen might seem and sound like your average, run of the mill rock track, but it’s when you dig deeper and REALLY listen to what he’s expressing, that the real meanings start to shine through. “When I first started, I was embarrassed to talk about the meaning of my songs, though that changed once I got the hang of putting more music into the world,” he admits. He’s also not afraid to confess that a lot of his songs address is own self-loathing nature and his life in general, adding: “Shit gets pretty real when you’re juggling this much.”

Nick refers to “Naturally” as: “…probably the darkest song on what most will likely call a dark album. It meanders between a very specific short, hot and bummer of a relationship to the wider idea of if a relationship is ever again even possible after certain epically devastating events. How many chances do we get to get it right? Do we run out? I hope not. Also, in a lot of my songs I like switching the you’s and the I’s around, so be careful where you’re assigning values.” 

The album he refers to is ‘Sunshine Guaranteed’, which drops October 8^th, and about which he says: “Is it an optimistic album? Yes. Was it made in a time of impossible turmoil? Yes. Was it made throughout one of the most transformational times in my life? Also yes.” He asked himself numerous questions while writing songs for the LP, reflecting on events and moments in his life that have impacted, and continue to impact, him in some way. “Divorce after a 20-year relationship, parenting and surviving through the pandemic, the turmoil of an ever changing and collapsing world,” he adds. “Micro and macro existential dread combined with the freedom and blue skies of being single for the first time after two decades…”
