After news of Mariah Carey’s engagement to James Packer hit the streets, eyes turned to her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, to see how he would react. I’m happy to say, he is a man of his word.
Carey and Packer, an Australian billionaire and casino owner, were engaged last week. Reports are that Packer got down on his knee and asked for Carey’s hand. According to Vogue, the ring is a platinum 35-carat diamond engagement ring (Can you say ‘Whoa!’).
Packer is part of an Australian media dynasty and is known as one of the richest men in the country. His grandfather, Sir Kerry Packer, controlled both the Nine Network and the Australian Consolidated Press. His father, also named Kerry, carried on with the family business and started a global cricket revolution in the 1970s, thanks to a World Series venture.
Cannon and Carey broke up in August 2014 after a six year marriage. They have twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and it seems that the kids have a great role model in Cannon, who did not waste any time sending his congratulations.
The actor and rapper posted a photo of himself on Instagram in a hospital bed with Real Husbands of Hollywood star, Kevin Hart, leaning over him. The caption says, “It’s just a ring Nick….”
Cannon then posted, “Ha! This made me laugh out loud for real!!! HILARIOUS! #AllLove Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union… #GreatPeople #GreatCouple.”

Following the couple’s split, Cannon said that he would “never say anything negative” about his ex-wife, and he added, “We are forever a family rooted in love.”
As of now, there is no known wedding date set for the NEW happy couple, but they may be letting some time pass, as the relationship is rather young. The pair began dating in June 2015.
