Nigel Lythgoe, judge for So You Think You Can Dance, has confirmed that the current revamp to the reality series will be dropped. The change recently made to the elimination format is no more.

The recent changes to the elimination format of SYTYCD had contestants learning of their standing on the show before dancing rather than after. This means contestants still had to perform a new number with their partner even though they knew they were leaving the show.

Viewers complained about these changes this week when contestants Brittany Cherry and Carlos Garland found out they were being eliminated at the beginning of the show, but still had to perform.

Judge Mary Murphy spoke of the controversy, saying of the new format “I’m not so sure I like it myself.” Since then, Lythgoe has turned to Twitter to confirm to anxious fans that the format will change to their liking.

“We’re taking your advice by revealing America’s vote in the beginning and judging at the end,” he tweeted. “I hope it will inspire the bottom 4? Thank you.” He went on to add “Now, wait until you find out who’s judging #SYTYCD next week! I think there will be a lot of happy viewers. #notbeforetime #DanceOnFox #OMG.”

So You Think You Can Dance airs on Fox on Tuesdays.
