‘Night of the Living Drag’ Served Up Some Devilish Fun With Sharon Needles And Company

“Night of the Living Drag” served up some of your favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race stars, including spook queen Sharon Needles, as “Joan Rivers”.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending this year’s Night of the Living Drag, presented by impresario Brandon Voss (of Voss Events) at the Liberty Theatre in NYC, and it not only lived up to my expectations, but by far, exceeded my ghoulish dreams.

The event, in its sophomore year, brought together some of the favorite drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, in a giant fright-filled show of performances and high-energy drag lip-synchs.

Hosted by season 4 winner and spook queen herself, Sharon Needles, the event featured performances by fan favorites Jujubee, Milk, Alaska, Ivy Winters, Phi Phi O’Hara, Darienne Lake, Manila Luzon, Latrice Royale, Ben DeLaCreme, and had Mimi Imfurst serving up DJ duty.

Irreverent as it was brilliant, Sharon stole the show as she delivered a spectacular spot-on Joan Rivers, in an homage to who she says was “one of the funniest [women] in Hollywood.”

Highlights of the evening included Jujubee as Poison Ivy, Phi Phi in an elaborate costume as Rita Repulsa (from Power Rangers), Milk doing a re-enactment of Drew Barrymore from Scream, Darienne Lake reprising her “Scream Queen” role from this past season of Drag Race, Ivy’s juggling, Manila as the “Stay Puft” Marshmallow Girl, Latrice in gold and glitter head-to-toe look, and DeLa serving up a sexy female Jason Voorhies.

My only regret was not getting to chat with Mimi Imfurst, who was so busy serving up some great music, she was otherwise stuck in the DJ booth.

Jiggly Caliente (as Dora The Explorer) and season 1 finalist Rebecca Glasscock also made appearances, and I was fortunate enough to film with Rebecca as my co-host for some behind the scenes with all the queens themselves in this fun video for my channel on the World of Wonder! Network (disclosure – World of Wonder produces Drag Race).

We also managed to exclusively find out that Ivy Winters is engaged to Keith Book, and Jujubee plans a wedding to her fiancee Christopher Liporto once equal marriage has been passed everywhere in the country.
