Welcome to night two of The Voice with the Unholy Trinity of PopWrapped Bec, Erika, and Tarra recapping night two of blind auditions for the Voice season 4. So far, Blake has the most members on his team, followed by Usher and Shakira with 2 a piece and Adam trailing with only 1. Will Adam catch up? Will Shakira keep holding her own with the boys? Will Usher ever sit normally? Let’s jump right in!

Let’s gear up for more (hopefully) amazing auditions tonight!

Bec:

Also let’s hope Usher remembers his basic geography tonight as well.

Refresher again:

  • Blake’s Team: 3
  • Usher’s Team: 2

  • Shakira’s Team: 2
  • Adam’s Team: 1

Bec:

“Mamma’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” sung by Tawnya Reynolds: An aspiring country singer who went to Nashville to fulfill her dream, she’s been shot by every label in town. Her husband and her parents are supportive of her dreams. She sees the show as her last chance to break into the industry. She gets two chair turns from the two non-country based artists: Adam and Shakira. She definitely has a country voice. Usher also joins them. Shakira breaks out an English to Country dictionary which is hilarious and adorable.

TEAM SHAKIRA

Erika:

Tawnya Reynolds: Aspiring country singer from Nashville. Working at it for 12yrs; Ups the ante by playing her own guitar; Sounds pretty soulful for a country singer. Both Shakira and Adam buzz in for her. Blake and Usher strike a deal to mentor one from their genre. Shakira claims to be the most country. Adam claims to be in Blake’s will. Shakira busts out her country dictionary to help sway her. Once again, the Biebs is brought up as Usher’s trump card. She picks Shakira!

Tarra:

Tawnya Reynolds (TEAM SHAKIRA) - Girl goes to Nashville, gets husband and confidence, let’s see if The Voice can give her a career shot! I can see why all the record labels in Nashville didn’t like her and although the country TWANG ain’t ma thang, I think she’s got talent. Can we keep the English to Country Dictionary for the season? Can Usher borrow it?? Great thanks! If we’re going to be reminded of Bieber every 30 seconds, PLZ just have him co-mentor w/Usher.

Bec:

“Sunday Morning” sung by Josiah Hawley: A religious guy who is currently a model and has very sweet wife. Josiah is very pretty. He chooses to sing Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. Gutsy move. He has a great smooth voice that catches Blake right off the bat followed by Usher. He is insanely charismatic and talented. Adam after holding out a bit and hearing some falsetto turns around as well. Blake does his adorable flirting with the hot male contestants he does like once a season. I love Usher trying to be serious while Shakira cracks up at Blake’s hair.

TEAM USHER

Erika:

Josiah Hawley: Former model and Christian singer; seems rather wholesome. Kinda hot! Takes on Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning”; he kinda looks Grant Gustin! Blake and Usher buzz in first. Not impressed with his vocals personally; Adam finally buzzes in. They all make jokes about his hair; he goes with Usher after the crowd chants his name! Poor Blake ruined his hair for nothing. Usher dancing in victory: priceless!

Tarra:

Josiah Hawley (TEAM USHER) - Now if he isn’t the CUTEST thing EVER; and by that I mean he looks 18 but like, Blake tall. Singing Maroon 5 huh? HOT DAMN! This guy has a groove and the ladies will LOVE him, I know I’m a puddle on the floor after that!

Bec:

“Folsom Prison Blues” sung by Midas Whale: These two guys are awesome and adorkable. I love them already. They both have interesting professions and folk music. One of them is using an accordion and I am madly in love. They have excellent voices. I love their cover of this song. They have excellent vocal chemistry together as well.  Usher turns around right away for this duo. Followed by Blake and Adam. Shakira turns around last for them. Making it the second four chair turn for a duo this season. Shakira speaks Spanish with them adorably. However they ultimately pick

TEAM ADAM

Erika:

Midas Whale: LOL at the name; a super nerdy looking duo; they seem to be channeling Mumford & Sons with both their looks and sound. All the judges turn around eventually. Blake is throwing mad shade tonight! The guys speak Spanish so they bond with Shakira immediately. Total brownie points from me plus they went with folk music! They went with Adam, his first duo ever!

Tarra:

Midas Whale (JPL & Ryan Hayes) - FIRST, if Jon Peter Lewis is a name that sounds familiar, let me remind you that he was the dude who rocked out to “Tiny Dancer” & “A Little Less Conversation” back on season 3 of American Idol, eliminated the week before Jennifer Hudson! Their energy is KILLER and with groups like Mumford and Sons popular right now, they have the potential to go really far!

Bec:

“Best Thing I Never Had” sung by Abraham McDonald: A shy kid who burst out of his shell through singing with his sister. His sister entered him a karaoke contest which he ultimately won. He has a very breathy voice. It really isn’t my cup of tea because of the breathiness of it.

Erika:

Abraham McDonald: That’s a big guy! Competed in Oprah’s karaoke contest and won; oh no…he picked Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Never Had”; Hella pitchy; No swivels! How fitting he ends with the lyric “It sucks to be you right now”!

Tarra:

Abraham MacDonald - So this dude has met/hugged/touched Oprah so there’s that… I don’t understand why he decided to sing all in his high register/falsetto, he could have killed with more power if he used his full range. That is the #1 reason he didn’t get through I think.

Bec:

“No Me Voy Por Vencido” sung by Cathia: She is from the Bronx. Her mom came from El Savador to give her children a better life. Her mom, a self-made business woman, is her inspiration.  She does a gutsy move and sings in Spanish. She has a very pretty voice. It’s very strong and she does some great things with it. She gets Usher and Shakira to turn around. Blake eventually follows them. She is so adorable. Blake gets utterly vicious in wanting Cathia on his team.

TEAM SHAKIRA

Erika:

Cáthia: Hardcore Latina! Singing in Spanish too! This will be interesting! Girl kills it as Shakira, Usher, and Blake turn for her! She took a big risk! Adam calls himself an idiot for not turning. Blake burns the other coaches but Shakira pouches back. Shakira wins her! Usher laments not paying in Spanish. Bully for you, Urr-sher!

Tarra:

Cathia (TEAM SHAKIRA) - I was surprised to see Usher turn around first but you can’t deny TALENT no matter the language. Her reaction to Usher and Shakira are priceless. AndUsher ain’t messin’ around, that’s for sure. and OF COURSE she picks Shakira.

Bec:

“One of Us” sung by Sarah Simmons: She is currently given permission to leave music college for The Voice. Her Dad was a drug addict and a musician. He is currently clean now. She seems like a very sweet and soft spoken girl. She has a very deep, lush voice. She puts everything into her performance and shows off an impressive range. She gets Adam and Shakira right off the bat.  Followed by Usher and Blake after a couple moments. Cutting to her Dad crying after this occurs makes me tear up a little bit because I’m a sap. Oh the judges are definitely going to be vicious trying to get her.

TEAM ADAM

Erika:

Sarah Simmons: Taking on Joan Osbourne’s “One of Us”; Loving the raspiness in her vocals! All the coaches turn for her! Adam is confident she can win. A Frontrunner? I think so! She goes with Adam naturally!

Tarra:

Sarah Simmons (TEAM ADAM) - last one of the night. This whole “big surprise Voice at the end of the show” this is tired already guys. But this GIRL, her voice is sweet/pure/with a rock edge, all of it. Good show girl!

Highlights:

Usher playing geography again!

Blake’s new do!

Shakira busting out the Spanish!

Adam’s look of joy for getting more artists!

Shade from the judges was amazing!

Random side note: Adam is really good at getting the four chair turn artists to join him the majority of the time.

Well, that’s all for tonight! Join us next time! Unholy Trinity, over and out!
