The Wii U may not be flying off shelves the way Nintendo was hoping it would, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still trying. Their latest attempt to interest gamers seems to be a reissue of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Nintendo has announced that they will be treating the game (which was originally created for the GameCube console) like a brand new game. Nintendo product manager Richard Langford said of the game: “It is the perfect time for Zelda fans to discover Wii U….For many Zelda fans, this is the first time that they’ll discover Wind Waker and we’re treating the game as a triple-A new release.” Langford added that the company is hoping to replicate the success they had bringing Ocarina of Time 3D to the Nintendo 3DS gaming system.
The Wii U version of The Wind Waker has already been available in North America from the Nintendo eShop, but will hit physical store shelves in both North America and Europe on October 4.
