The Wii U’s life-cycle has been a rather intriguing one.
Up to this point, most popular media sources would claim it was on its way out before it was even released. To think that way would’ve been hypocritical, though, and now Nintendo’s finally proving why the Wii U is the little next gen system that could, as Mario Kart 8 jetted up the sales charts last week.
The latest installment in the famous Nintendo racing series, featuring a vast amount of popular characters from the Mario franchise, managed to sell 1.2 million units in just its opening weekend. Whereas Watch_Dogs sold 4 million on launch week, Mario Kart 8 basically sold a third of that in three or four less days as a console exclusive. If that’s not impressive, we don’t know what is.
Recently, PopWrapped guest contributor Tanner Johns awarded Mario Kart 8 with 9.5/10 – a lauded score that almost every other reviewer out there would concur with.
If you’re a Nintendo fan and haven’t picked the game up yet, what are you waiting for!? …the Mercedes-Benz Kart, perhaps?
