It’s exactly what it says on the tin…er, title.
After seeing Nintendo shares rise 4% in Tokyo trading thanks to the company’s announcement of “Mario Kart 8”– surpassing 1 million units sold in the United States– the Nintendo-owned Pokemon company revealed plans for the release of an online Apple iPad trading card app.
Created in 1996 by Japanese game designer Satoshi Tajiri, 48, the Pokemon brand has become one of the most popular franchises in the world, second only to Nintendo’s other flagship franchise, “Mario,” in the video game industry in terms of success and profitability. To date, Pokemon games have sold more than 200 million copies.
The trading card game is already available for computers.
Pokemon fans around the world are excited…at least those who play the trading card games. Have at it, you silly kids!
