Love or hate the idea of live action remakes, Disney can’t seem to get enough of them, with Pinocchio the latest character set to be updated.
Deadline says that Disney Studios have hired Peter Hedges of About a Boy to write a film “loosely based on the original Pinocchio story.”
If you’re familiar with the original 1940s animation, then you’ll know the story of the puppet desperately wanting to be a real boy and his rather unfortunate habit of lying… and his nose growing as a result of those lies.
It remains to be seen just how “loosely” this will reflect the cartoon version, but I doubt that the cigar smoking children of Pleasure Island will feature too heavily this time around.
With Cinderella just out at cinemas and Beauty and the Beast gearing up to film, Disney have also announced plans to make Winnie The Pooh, the Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon, Mulan AND Dumbo.
So get ready, Disney fans. There’s lots more to come.
