Her voice is memorable and chances are you’ve heard at least one song of hers. One of the last incarnations was a sample of her song “Strange Fruit” in Kanye West’s “Blood on the Leaves” from his Yeezus album last year.
During Norway’s Got Talent, seven-year-old (SEVEN!) Angelina Jordan Astar took the stage and gave an amazing rendition of Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday.”

She looks like a mini-Lorde, but she’s got Lady Day’s sound. After she finished her song, the judges seemed speechless and the crowd delivered a standing ovation. A Norwegian television station reported Astar does speak English and can understand the words of the song. Could this be a case of mimicry, or is Astar the real deal?
And for you inquiring minds— she did get a unanimous “yes” from the judges. Looks like we can look forward to more performances from Angelina in the future.
