One napkin could end up costing McDonald’s a whole lot of paper!
TMZ reports that Webster Lucas is suing the fast food giant for $1.5 million over an incident that started over a single napkin. While eating in a McDonalds location in Pacoima, California, Lucas says he was given only one napkin with his Quarter Pounder Deluxe order. Upon asking for more, Lucas alleges he was berated by the manager and told that he had already been given some. Lucas’ lawsuit goes on to state his response as “I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn’t come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat.”
Lucas claims things took a racial turn at that point when the Latino manager made a comment about “you people,” an insult aimed at Blacks. Apparently the comment was enough to reduce Lucas into an emotional invalid as he later E-mailed the general manager complaining that he could no longer work because of the “undue mental anguish” from the event. The GM offered Lucas free food in compensation, which Lucas rejected, deciding that only $1.5 million would heal the massive paper cut his psyche had taken.
What do you think? Does Lucas have a chance, or will the judge be wiping ketchup off his face with the case files?
