Since its release thirty years ago, The Goonies has gained a massive cult following. While director Richard Donner is not yet confirming a highly-anticipated Goonies sequel, he has recently mentioned that the film will be adapted into an off-Broadway immersive theater show. See? There will always be The Goonies. Somewhere.

In a recent interview, Donner mentions “We’re going to do an off-Broadway, do you know what immersion theater is?…We’re doing one onThe Goonies. It will take another year or so, but it’s going to be wonderful.”

Immersive theater is a unique and interactive type of performance in which audience members are engaged with the actors and become part of the performance itself. While few details have surfaced about the upcoming Goonies production, but it is certainly something that will get fans excited. Even after 30 years.
