This weekend NBC will be using the views of the Olympics to their advantage. They will be airing the premiere of both About a Boy and Growing up Fisher, following the closing ceremonies for the 2014 Games.
About a Boy is based on Nick Hornby’s novel of the same name. In the show, David Walton takes over for Grant as man-child Will. Will is a musician who lives off of the royalties from a Christmas song he wrote years ago. He starts to change his was when Marcus (Benjamin Stockholm) and his single and depressed mother Fiona (Minnie Driver) move in the house next door.
Growing up Fisher is also about a young boy. Henry (Eli Baker) is 11 years old when his parents told him they were getting a diverse. You hear his future self, voiced by Jason Bateman, tell the viewers about that early on in the narration. Once his parents announce their divorce, Henry’s blind father moves out and purchases a guide dog to in some way replace Henry.
Both of the shows seem very entertaining. Hopefully the Olympics get more people to watch the shows, and come back for more. Here’s hoping NBC gives these shows a chance.
