One Direction is ruling the UK charts. The British boy band’s latest anthology Midnight Memories is currently the fastest-selling album in the UK so far this year.
Midnight Memories was released on November 25 and has sold more than 187,660 copies in less than a week.
One Direction unseated Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, which previously held the top spot in the charts. The electronic dance duo’s album sold 165,091 copies the first week after it was released back in May.
The boy band’s latest album is performing better than their previous collections Up All Night and Take Me Home, which sold 138,631 and 155,316 copies in their opening weeks.
The band’s only competition when it comes to album sales is English songwriter and singer Gary Barlow. One Direction has sold 100,000 copies more than Barlow’s latest album Since I Saw You Last.
Barlow is the lead-singer of the British pop group Take That, and a judge on the X Factor UK.
