Authorities have stepped in to resolve a case involving the current whereabouts of Casey Kasem. A judge made the ruling on May 12th after an attorney for Kasem’s wife said that the radio legend had been removed from the country. The 82-year-old former Top 40 host suffers from severe symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and can no longer speak. His wife, Jean, has been in control of Kasem’s care and had placed him in various medical facilities throughout his illness.

Kasem’s adult children from a previous marriage have stated that Jean has broken a legal agreement and withheld visitation with their father. The children claimed that Jean Kasem’s repeated moves have been a conscious effort to isolate the famous announcer from his family and have accused her of elder abuse.

Daughter Kerri was appointed her father’s temporary caretaker on May 12th by the courts. Her attorney says Kerri and her siblings believe Kasem has not been moved outside of the U.S., and his latest location may be an Indian reservation in Washington State.

An attorney for Jean Kasem has argued that his client has “every right to move her husband as she sees fit.”

The current legal case regarding Casey Kasem’s care is not the first. Daughter Julie previously battled Jean for more access to her father and power to make decisions regarding his treatment. Julie Kasem had reached a settlement with her stepmother in that case but claimed in the May 12th proceedings that the settlement had been breached.

The judge in the current case has appointed a doctor to investigate the medical state and treatment of Casey Kasem and has also ordered a court-appointed attorney to determine the broadcasting pioneer’s exact location.
