Our Spidey Senses Are Tingling: Sony Developing Female-Led “Spider-Man” Spinoff

Hot on the heels of Marvel’s latest controversy revolving around superheroine The Wasp, Sony, who holds the film rights to such popular Marvel franchises as The Amazing Spider-Man, has announced that they will be producing a female-led Spider-Man spinoff.

The world is yearning for a female hero to take center-stage in a way that Kevin Feige may have yet to understand. When you pair this fact with the tremendous reception (and tremendous cash) that the Spider-Man saga has received as a whole, the upcoming spinoff is bound to be a success on Sony’s part.

Will it be one to ignite a flame under Marvel’s posterior to do the same? Given, Marvel actually has a very well-planned phase system that aims to produce quality films and we cannot have a female-led movie made just for the heck of it being a female-led film. Still, props to the Sony for getting on the job. I’m hoping for a Black Cat film!
