Outlander Casts Richard Rankin As Adult Roger McKenzie

We first saw Roger McKenzie as a baby on Starz’s ‘Outlander’, but the series has now cast Richard Rankin to portray the adult version of the character.

Outlander has cast Scottish actor Richard Rankin to play the role of the adult Roger McKenzie.

The character was introduced in the first season as a child and was adopted by Reverend Wakefield after his parents died in World War II. He was raised by him with the help of his housekeeper Mrs. Graham and is now currently a professor in Oxford, with a deep interest in history. A press release from Starz described him as “Intelligent, kindhearted, and charming”. There is no word yet on who would play the character of Briana, who will have a strong connection with Roger, as fans of the books the series is based on are already aware of.

Richard Rankin is well-known for portraying Captain Thomas Gillan in the British medical World War I drama The Crimson Field. However, he may be more familiar to International audiences due to his guest appearance in American Odyssey, as well as a part in Bradley Cooper’s culinary drama film Burnt.

If that is not enough to get you excited, The Starz press release went on to say that Roger McKenzie “epitomizes the tall, dark, handsome leading man and stands six feet tall in stocking soles.”

There is no announcement yet on when Outlander is set to return but there is speculation that season 2 may premier sometime in March or April 2016.
