For anyone who is a fan of Marvel’s Thor franchise and in particular, the franchise’s villain, Loki, it is quite hard to picture someone else taking the place of British actor Tom Hiddleston when it comes to that role. Hiddleston is known for taking complete ownership of that character, spawning a huge following as a result of his portrayal of the God of Mischief.
Turns out though someone else could have taken on that pivotal role: Owen Wilson. Following in the steps of other Marvel actor, Robert Downey Jr., Hiddleston shows fans recently during his visit to Sydney while promoting Thor: The Dark World what exactly happens when you are “the dude playin’ the dude, disguised as another dude,” or as it is in the case, Hiddleston playing Owen Wilson disguised as Loki.
The request came during an interview with Popcorn Taxi while Down Under as Hiddleston is famous for giving amazing impressions of his fellow co-stars. After taking a moment to prepare himself, the actor, speaking in Wilson’s laid-back voice, jumps right into his impression, complete with Wilson-like mannerisms, “It’s the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave, you know, subjugation. You know, for God’s sake, you know, just, like, kneel. I’m Loki of glorious Asgard, I’m burdened with glorious purpose, that’s all.”

The clip has since gone viral with over a million views on YouTube. The actor is currently on a promotional tour for the latest installment of the Thor franchise.
Most recently, Hiddleston was one of the many British actors who took part of PBS’s Great Performances: The Hollow Crown series, which concluded its run on Friday night. The actor will next be seen on the big screen when Thor: The Dark World hits the cinemas on October 30th in the UK and November 8th in the US. Hiddleston will be following that project with his return to the stage in Coriolanus on London’s West End in December.
