It’s been known for a while that Owl City was preparing to make a comeback to the scene and that his new era was about to begin. The singer has now released the very first offering from that era, the Aloe Blacc-assisted “Verge”, which now has a lyric video to go by.
Owl City doesn’t disappoint once again, offering one of his regularly catchy tunes. The anthemic pop tune has its pulsing beats hitting hard, with a light-hearted and feel-good approach making it perfect for song of the summer. The combination of his vocals with Aloe Blacc’s compliments the production and they do an exceptional job singing their bits. As if the entire melody wasn’t enough, there’s a whistle-filled post-chorus part to make it even more catchy. Definitely one of the most instant tracks we’ve heard lately.
“Verge” serves as the first offering to be lifted from the singer’s forthcoming, fifth studio album, titled Mobile Orchestra. Owl City is planning to release the record on July 10 and it will be a follow-up to 2012′s The Midsummer Station.
