Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones has premiered at the box office with a strong $8,7 million debut, topping the box office charts, and beating family entertainment juggernauts The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (3rd) and Frozen (2nd) and which were previously first and second respectively. Following the top three are Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and David O. Russell’s American Hustle
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is the first film in the franchise to open in the first quarter of the year, with all the previous films opening in either September or October. However, Paranormal Activity 5 (which continues the canon) is due to be released in October of this year. This may serve to harm this film’s chances, as the October Halloween buzz usually helps horror films make a good amount at the box office.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is currently in theatres. Paranormal Activity 5 is set to be released on October 24th 2014.
