Oh boy, oh boy. Some people have trouble realizing the flaws in their own advice.
Case in point, a viewer of the 700 Club called in to the show and asked Pat Robertson’s advice on how to get her 13-year-old stepson to stop having crushes on other boys.
What “amazing” advice did Robertson provide? Robertson claims that the boy is attracted to other men because he is raised by a woman, so he recommends: “I would get him male companions, I’d get him some man to help him, some mentor, someone who cares about young men. He is being raised by a single woman and that is skewing his orientation.”
I’ll give you a moment to let that so called “advice” sink in.
And yes, this is advice he actually offered and not some ignorant joke. Robertson’s answer has so many offensive and backwards undertones that it astounds me that it even aired on television.
