Doctors have come and gone over the past 50 years–this is not new for the Whoverse. But for younger fans that don’t yet understand the idea of regeneration, the idea of your favorite Doctor leaving can be a little scary.

Peter Capaldi, who has previously starred in BBC’s The Thick of It as the bad-mouthing Director of Communications for the British government, Malcom Tucker, is known for his tough roles. But that doesn’t mean he’ll act that way in his new role as The Doctor.

His recent video, which was captured by a fan during a recording of Doctor Who, includes Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman as they try to convince two young fans it’s okay for him to be the new Doctor. He even gets some help when he mentions a special, old friend.

This is not the first time Capaldi is involved in something Doctor Who related. He starred in Series 4’s “The Fires of Pompeii,” as well as Torchwood‘s third series as the main antagonist, John Frobisher.

Doctor Who will return to the BBC later this year.
