There is no doubt the late Philip Seymour Hoffman was a great actor, and now it seems even more so that he was also an amazing father. Hoffman tragically died on February 2nd from a heroin overdose. Since then, his last will and testament has recently been made available to the public, and while I don’t want to talk about this highly sensitive and personal document in detail, something does strike me as very touching – the thought Hoffman had for his children.

Instead of setting up trust funds for his three children, he left his entire estate to his partner Mimi O’Donnell, knowing that she will raise their children well and give them the necessary care that is needed with that money.

Hoffman also expressed that he does not want his children to be raised in Los Angeles, as he saw the ugly side of Hollywood through the years. He gave some recommendations for where his children should be raised, including Manhattan, Chicago or San Francisco, all meeting his criteria of being cities “with art and culture”.
