Pop 10: Past Billboard Music Awards Performances That Slayed Us All

As the 2015 Billboard Music Awards approach this weekend, we’re looking back on some of our favorite performances on the show.

From girl power galore to R&B powerhouse medleys, the past four years of Billboard Music Awards history have included some performance gems and, with this year’s event coming up on Sunday (May 17), I’ve compiled some of my favorites.

Let’s reminisce, in no particular order, on my Pop 10 BBMAs performances.

2014: “Problem” – Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea

Now, if I were to name a guilty pleasure artist, it would hands down be Ariana Grande. “Problem” was a banger, made only more so by Iggy’s verse.

Say what you will about Iggy, who’s been problematic (get it?) lately, but I love when women team up and dominate.

Ariana’s backup dancers are also always on point, especially blondie to her right.

2014: “Fancy” – Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX

Yet another girl power anthem (which even Diddy was jammin’ to in the audience, just sayin’)? Yes, please.

2013: “Take You” – Justin Bieber

I love watching Justin perform, and this is one of my favorites of his.

“Take You” was one of the highlights of his last album Believe, and he more than  did it justice with those flawless moves (and those biceps)!

Justin can sing to me in French any time, thank you very much.

2013: “Treasure” – Bruno Mars

I swear Bruno really should have been born in another era; he pays homage to past music with uncanny ease, and “Treasure” was no exception. Those seductive vocals, though.

Don’t even get me started on the choreographed moves he and his crew are always slaying me with.

Sigh. Don’t you just wanna kidnap him?

2012: “Chasing The Sun”/”Glad You Came” – The Wanted

This was my favorite band’s BBMAs debut and, in the spirit of their artistry, it was nothing but talent. Indeed, they’re a boy band who can’t dance–but their live vocals are more than enough to get your attention.

The audience couldn’t help but enjoy this performance as much as they did.

2012: Medley – Stevie Wonder & Alicia Keys

Um, Stevie Wonder just does no wrong…ever…and Alicia Keys is one of the most beautiful voices of our generation, so when they teamed up for this medley? Fire.

2013: “Talk Dirty” – Jason Derulo

I have a like/dislike relationship with Jason, BUT there is no denying that the man can move, and he sure can put on a performance.

Plus, “Talk Dirty” was the jaaaaam that summer!

2012: “Turn Up The Music” – Chris Brown

Chris is always putting 110% into his performances, and he’s so much fun to watch.

BMXers (moving in sync, I might add) and his signature choreography?

Nothing else necessary.

2011: OneRepublic/Far East Movement/Snoop Dogg Medley

There aren’t even any words for this other than: epic.

I’m convinced Ryan Tedder isn’t entirely human because, not only has he written some of the biggest hits for some very popular artists, he’s also a fantastic performer.

2012: “Greatest Love Of All”/”I Will Always Love You”(Whitney Houston Tribute) – John Legend & Jordin Sparks

Tributes to legends must always be acknowledged, and Miss Whitney Houston was one of the greatest. There aren’t many people who can pay her talent justice, but John and Jordin (those high notes were impeccable!) were amazing choices and they honored her well.

Who are you looking forward to seeing this year? Sound off below!

The awards air on ABC this Sunday at 8 pm est.
