After a long week full of activities, sometimes it is nice to just to stay in and watch a movie. It is a great way to recharge your batteries without spending a whole lot of money. However, there are so many films out there! Here are 5 wonderful suggestions:

Summer Fun: Camp Takota

Starring the Holy Trinity of YoTtube (Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart, and Hannah Hart) this is a sweet and quirky film about finding yourself. Following a struggling writer, viewers will be treated to a campy movie where friendships and traditions make the world go round. Small in budget, but big in heart!

RomCom: You’ve Got Mail

Yes, this movie has been out for awhile. And some of the references might be a little dated, but it’s a classic boy-meets-girl movie with a lot of little eccentricities, twists, and a soundtrack that make this film timeless. How can you go wrong with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan?

Indie: Garden State

Quirky, cute, sensual, gritty, and fun – all words to describe this film. Written, starring, and directed by Zach Braff (along with Natalie Portman as the leading lady and Ian Holm as the father), we find out that you can go home again. It might not be what you expect, but it’s definitely what you need. Due to language and explicit references, this movie is for the 18+ crowd.

Musical: Once

Filmed in Dublin with a micro-budget, this musical is moving and touching. It’s about two people who love each other, but are they destined to be together? The soundtrack is composed and performed by the two leads, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Unlike so many musical compositions added into a film, the songs used do not overpower the story or the script; they only help to heighten the film’s brilliance.

Family Fun: Stand by Me

This movie, while from the late-1980s’, is a story of a group of boys who find themselves on a harrowing adventure. Adapted from a Stephen King novel with the same title, the young men chosen become their characters. Will Wheton, River Corey Feldman Jerry O’Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland don’t just say the words in the script; they react to the words in the script, thus becoming those boys. Filled with adventure, mystery, and excitement this is a perfect film for the whole family.

I hope you enjoy one or all these films! Stay tuned, another 5 suggestions will be at hand. Until then, sound off below!
