Pop Divas Square Off: Lady Gaga Throws Some Serious Shade Katy Perry’s Way

For those of you who don’t know, the act of “shading” is a relatively new trend in social media where one person indirectly insults or casts a negative light (a shadow if you will) upon another person.

Yesterday morning pop sensation Lady Gaga posted a tweet that, while not directly aimed at Katy Perry, appears to have been about her. The tweet read:

Gaga is referring to how in her Born This Way Ball World Tour, which ran from April 2012 to February 2013 (ended prematurely due to Gaga’s hip breaking), she opened the show riding a puppeteered horse, a co-creation by Haus of Gaga and The Jim Henson Company, while singing the track “Highway Unicorn (Road To Love).” There was also a point in the tour’s run where Gaga, in conjunction with her many wigs, sported green hair.

Rival pop star and “Roar” singer, Katy Perry, started off her Prismatic World Tour in Belfast, Ireland on May 7th. During the second act of the show Katy rides a puppeteered horse while singing her hit “Dark Horse.” At a point in the show Katy changes her wig and wears, you guessed it, a green one.

Though Lady Gaga did not “invent” mechanical horses or green wigs, it does seem awfully fishy that Katy would more or less “copy and paste” something so blatantly just over a year after it was last seen.

Katy also kind of ripped off another one of Gaga’s concert creations; a super fan pit. For the Born This Way Ball there was special “Monster pit” separated by a cat-walk extension of the stage; and at the Prismatic World Tour there is a “Reflection Section” separated by, yup, a cat-walk extension.

Gaga, the “Do What U Want” singer, recently kicked off her latest global tour artRave: The ARTPOP Ball in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on May 4th. No horses were sighted, but the green wig does make a triumphant comeback.
