Vice President-Elect Mike Pence was in “The Room Where It Happens”, and things didn’t go so well. That’s right: last night, Pence visited the Richard Rogers Theater to see the Pulitzer Prize, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation Hamilton, and audience reactions were a bit mixed.
As Pence entered the theater, he was greeted with both boos and cheers from the show’s audience. After the show, star Brandon Victor Dixon (who portrays Aaron Burr) delivered a gracious address to the future VP, urging him to consider the nation as a whole as he develops future policies.
Needless to say, Twitter took this incident and ran with it — with both sides of the political fence weighing in on the exchange. It wasn’t long before the tag #BoycottHamilton was trending nationwide as people posted their reactions. And, while some people were advocates for this protest, many found the whole thing rather silly, considering the show’s continued success, and responded accordingly with all the wit you’d expect from theater fans.
From thousands of tweets, we’re bringing you our Pop10 hilarious reactions to the #BoycottHamilton movement! Enjoy!

The #BoycottHamilton hashtag is the best thing to happen to musical theatre since Audra McDonald was created in a lab at Juilliard.
