PopWrapped Chats With 2013-2014 Miss New Jersey, Emily Shah

For the first time, PopWrapped talks all things inspirational with Emily Shah, Miss New Jersey USA 2014.

PW has covered football, baseball, dance, and all around celebrity gossip, but we’ve never spoken to a Miss USA contender! For the first time, PopWrapped talks all things inspirational with Emily Shah, Miss New Jersey USA 2014.

Emily describes her crowing moment in one word: Shocking.

“I was in shock. I was the youngest contestant and this was my first Miss pageant. I was happy with just making the top 15, but when I made the top 5, I knew I had to win this. I always thought I would cry when I won, but I was in such shock, I didn’t cry until a week later!”

Emily is grateful to have become Miss NJ and everything she has done since has been an enjoyable whirlwind.

“I have had such a wide variety of appearances as Miss NJ. I can’t think of one thing I haven’t enjoyed. I can’t wait to represent New Jersey at Miss USA! It’s such an honor!”

Shah mentions that her most rewarding part of being crowned Miss NJ is all the foundations she gets to represent along with some cool perks.

“I’m bringing awareness to the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, where I have become an ambassador. I am also a face for UNICEF, ending polio and opening up the Superbowl!”

Emily has had her fair share of strange moments though!

“I once had a guy ask me to call his ex girlrfriend to make her jealous. Never happened though!”

Emily is inspired by her family, mainly her grandmother.

“My grandmother is my inspiration. She is fighting her fourth battle with cancer. She’s been through so much that I have no room to complain, slack, or become upset. She is so happy with everything she has been through. She makes me believe that you can overcome anything you put your mind to.”

At the age of 18 and with a big presence in the media, Emily reminds young girls to love themselves.

“If you can’t accept yourself, then you can’t expect others to. Loving yourself is so essential during this time of age [sic]. The people that are meant to be in your life will love you for exactly who you are.”

Emily has passions for many things, most of them performing.

“My passions are acting, dancing, traveling, eating, makeup and fitness.”

Acting has become such a passion that, one day, Emily hopes to be doing it as a career.

“I want to be an actress, a job shouldn’t be a chore. It should be something you enjoy and happen to make money off of. That’s that best kind of job to me.”

Emily shares a special quote she lives by as well, hoping to inspire others.

“If you don’t build your dreams, someone will hire you to help build theirs.”

Emily gives selfessly, citing all the charities she works for as what makes her a better person.

“When it comes to humanity, the charitites I work with always bring out the selflessness in me. Also my niece Ava. I always want her to grow up to work as hard as I do.”

Next thing for Emily? College!

“I hope to get my degree quickly and enter the entertainment industry!”

Emily may not have taken home the Miss USA crown, but her mark on the competition was made; and she shows no signs of stopping now!
