Covers of songs probably make up a large percentage of online videos, right behind cat videos and people doing stupid things. Some covers are good, some are ok and some of them make us cringe a little bit.

Cover videos are, for the most part, people just singing their favorite songs in the comfort of their own homes. But there are also some big names in the music world doing their own covers of their favorite songs. Enjoy.

Boyce Avenue- “I Want It That Way” originally by Backstreet Boys.

From one boy band to another, “I Want It That Way” is being revived for the younger generation. This acoustic cover may not be as flashy or as “pop rock” as the original, but the music remains. The guitar melodies and vocal clarity make this song as amazing as it was back in its heyday. You can watch their cover here.

Alex Goot- “Breakeven” originally by The Script.

Alex’s cover is amazing because it’s all done himself. He plays all the instruments and does the vocals by himself. He puts all of his energy into the music and makes you feel the emotions behind it. His instrumentals and vocals meld together perfectly due to meticulous hours of editing. You can watch that cover here.

Big Time Rush- “Young Love” originally by Jedward

A song originally written for two vocalists is redone by four and it sounds just as amazing. The guys of BTR are very familiar with harmonizing and they do the song justice, their diverse ranges covering the melody, the harmony and additional harmonies perfectly. They sing with their hearts because they want everything they do to be perfect and it shows. You can get the audio for their cover here.

Ariana Grande- “Rolling In The Deep” originally by Adele

It’s no surprise that Ariana Grande can sing. The young Victorious star currently has two huge singles and is working on an EP. Her cover of Adele is nothing but pure. She does it a capella, or without any accompaniment. It’s her, a camera and her voice. She sings her heart out and you can see in her face that she is working as hard as she can to match Adele. Her voice echoes beautifully and she carries out steady tones and harmonious notes. Her cover can be viewed by clicking here.

James Maslow- “Clarity” originally by Zedd featuring The Foxes.

James Maslow from Big Time Rush is one of the best solo singers in this time and place. He has an amazing vocal range and can hit notes that some girls and most guys can only dream of. His cover of “Clarity” shows this. He plays the piano accompaniment himself and sings, hitting all the notes with perfection. He uses his body language and facial expressions to convey the message of the song, which is that even if you love someone you know you shouldn’t, you can’t help but go back to them. You can see his cover here.
