Shocking Photos Reveal How Prison Has Aged Former Producer Phil Spector

No one will claim that prison is fun, but it can also take its toll in other ways; specifically, a physical toll.

Two photos were released by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation of former music producer Phil Spector, and they are nothing less than shocking.

Known as being a flamboyant addition to the music scene, Spector was convicted of killing actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. He was sentenced to 19 years to life for this crime. The trial was sensational due to the behavior and looks of Spector, who often wore outlandish wigs to court. To make it even more sensational, he was tried twice after the first jury came back deadlocked. His once-respected reputation fell away with the sound of the gavel and his career was over.

According to Terry Thornton, a California Department of Corrections spokeswoman, the photos (which you can see at CBS News), though released this week, were taken back in 2013 when Spector was transferred to the California Health Care Facility. This is a facility that provides care to the state’s sickest inmates, including those with chronic and serious conditions.

Though no information about 71-year old Spector’s medical condition has been released, if he even has one, it is known that his wife, 34-year-old Rachelle, still visits him regularly.
