Lionsgate announced today that Robert Knepper will join the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 as a never before seen character. Knepper plays Antonius, Present Snow’s minister and a newcomer to the dystopian franchise. Antonius is not present in the best-selling novels by Suzanne Collins. The actor is best known for his roles in Prison Break and Heroes.
Director Francis Lawrence will return to the director’s chair for the third and fourth installments in the series, following the success of Catching Fire.
He recently spoke about the decision to split the third film into two parts. “The good thing is by splitting it in two you actually will get more of the book in the movies because you have a little more time for each part. There’s also room for some surprises and additions.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will premiere on November 21, 2014, followed by Part 2 on November 20, 2015.
