What perfect timing! Michael Jackson would have turned 55 yesterday.
Timbaland launched a video on RevoltTV this week to tease a new track featuring the late legend’s vocals.
Controversy immediately surrounded the song as Timbaland was labelled a hypocrite by some for using MJ’s work without ever having worked with him. Timbaland publicly dissed Drake back in July for featuring the late Aaliyah’s vocals on one of his tracks.
“Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work. Aaliyah music only works with its soulmate, which is me.” Timberland claimed that for Drake “to put it on his record would just not be right”.
In a new video, Timbaland fights his corner. Explaining that he spoke with the King of Pop on the phone before he died and now plans to use some of his unreleased vocals.
Deeming his new MJ inspired record the product of “two kings working together”, Timbaland describes how “LA Reid came to [his] house and said ‘I’ve go something big I wanna do’”.
