The haunt season is upon us and that means it is time to celebrate the spooky and scary. If you like to fill your Halloween with lots of creeps and scares, theme park events around the country, like Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and Busch Garden’s Howl-O-Scream, cater to your fears, but if you like your ghosts and ghouls a little on the tamer side, Walt Disney World’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is for you.
Halloween is a special time in the Magic Kingdom; a time to celebrate the not-so-good guys of the Disney universe.
We’ve put together our Top 5 reasons why Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party should be on your list of Halloween events.
The Boo To You Halloween Parade
Disney theme parks are known around the world for their spectacular parades featuring favorite Disney characters and music. During the holidays, the parades go that extra step to get guests into the mood. The Boo to You Halloween Parade is a fan favorite. This is the one parade of the year that gets those Hitchhiking Ghosts out of the Haunted Mansion and into the streets of the Magic Kingdom.
Happy HalloWishes Fireworks
Celebrating Halloween like only a disembodied voice can, the Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion reigns supreme during the Happy HalloWishes fireworks show.
The lights in the Magic Kingdom dim, the Ghost Host spins his terrifying tale and fireworks erupt from all around Cinderella’s Castle.
Throughout the show, the Ghost Host invites other Disney villains like Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas, Ursula the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid and Jafar from Aladdin to each conduct their own segments of the show.
The Haunted Mansion
It wouldn’t be a Halloween party without a trip to see Master Gracey at the Haunted Mansion. During Halloween, outside the mansion is extra foggy and the servants are extra spooky.
This is the one time of the year when the servants at the mansion get to show their true selves with scary makeup and spiderwebs. Photographers are on hand to help guests take their picture with the horse-less carriage outside.
Mickey and All His Haunted Friends
Meet and greets with the Disney characters definitely make a trip to the party worth while. During the day, long lines and heat make the experience of getting a picture with your favorite character frustrating. You’ll find many characters at the party, some wearing their own Halloween costumes, with much shorter waits.
The Costumes
Halloween just isn’t Halloween without costumes. Dressing up in costume is normally forbidden at Disney theme parks, but for the party guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite hero or villain while at the event.
Families really get into the spirit of the party with both kids and adults participating in costumes.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party runs select nights through September and October. More details and ticket information can be found on the Walt Disney World website.
