Psycho-Pass Prequel Manga Will Be Released By Dark Horse Comics

Dark Horse Comics makes dreams come true by releasing the prequel manga for the incredibly popular anime series, Psycho-Pass.

Dark Horse Comics has made many dreams come true by announcing they will be releasing the Psycho-Pass prequel manga series Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kōgami in the U.S. The first volume is scheduled for a November 9, 2016 release date. The prequel follows fan-favorite season 1 protagonist Shinya Kōgami and chronicles his time as an Inspector.

Psycho-Pass is an anime original series that has spawned two prequel manga series, a light novel, a video game and a movie. Produced by Production I.G. and written by Gen Urobuchi, Psycho-Pass premiered in October 2012 to mass acclaim. The second season, Psycho-Pass 2, debuted October 2014 followed by Psycho-Pass: The Movie which hit theaters January 9, 2015. The film received a limited theatrical run in the U.S. (courtesy of Funimation) from March 15-16, 2016.

Funimation, who holds the license to the franchise, describes the plot of Psycho Pass season 1 as the following:

Brace yourself for a hardboiled, sci-fi thriller from the creator of Madoka Magica and the studio that brought you Ghost in the Shell.

Welcome to a world where just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty. Bad intentions can no longer be hidden, and the police know exactly which tainted minds are about to cross over to the wrong side of the law. The great equalizer in the war on thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the risk that a citizen will turn criminal. Cops work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, Inspectors stop their partners from going rogueand the all-powerful Sibyl System keeps a watchful eye on us all. Society is paralyzed by its deepest, darkest desires, and trial by jury has been replaced by the wrath of the Dominator. Welcome to the future. How guilty are you?

Are you looking forward to reading a prequel all about Kōgami? I sure as hell am. Hopefully a Shogo Makishima and Shusei Kagari prequel is in the works.
