Captain Erik Rue first spotted a beautiful pink dolphin, known rather sweetly known as “Pinky,” whilst fishing in 2007.
When he spotted her all those years ago, he said she swam alongside her mother before moving on to spend time with the dolphin pod. But now that she is no longer a juvenile it seems she has found a life of her own…
“We still see her swimming almost every day in the summertime. We’ve seen her a lot in the last few weeks. She looks happy and healthy,” Rue said.
According to Rue, she was spotted mating recently and may well be pregnant. Will her baby carry her unusual colouring too?
He has said that she is “100 percent pink–you know, like, the color of most dolphins bellies, but her whole body is pink.”
You can book a trip out to see Pinky for yourself with the Calcasieu Charter Service.
