When Elle Woods first sauntered onto the silver screen back in 2001, I don’t think anybody would have suspected how successful Legally Blonde would become.

Reese Witherspoon earned a Golden Globe nomination for her turn as the sorority girl turned lawyer, and the box office success spawned a sequel and a spinoff series.

Reese’s co-star, Jennifer Coolidge (2 Broke Girls) recently said that the franchise could have added a second sequel but Reese was ready to move on. Coolidge told the New York Daily News: “That was Reese’s choice [not to make the third film]. She’s such a good actress. It was weird, she carried Legally Blonde. She had a baby at home or two babies at home and she was doing Legally Blonde during the day. It was bizarre how much that girl can handle. I was blown away by her.”

While Legally Blonde went on to become a Broadway Musical, Reese went on to win an Oscar for her role as June Cash in Walk the Line. Not too shabby!

Reese is still as busy as every; most recently she could be seen in Mud opposite Matthew McConaughey. She was recently confirmed as the lead in the Nick Hornby film Wild, and watch for her in the upcoming Devil’s Knot, Passengers and Inherent Vice.
