Corruption, intrigue, hackings and scandal…you might think this is the work of Dan Brown in one of his books, but no, it’s just the internal workings at the CBS News.
Sharyl Attkisson, a lead reporter and investigative journalist has quit CBS after a months of clashing swords with the big wigs over professional integrity and breaches in confidence.
It is alleged that back in May her computer was hacked while working on stories relating to the government. While CBS did confirm there were breaches it was never discovered (or at least disclosed) who the perpetrators may have been
It has also been reported that her news pieces were regularly not included in the Nightly News due to her stance on the CBS liberal views. Examples include her work on Benghazi and various stories about the Obama administration.
Both CBS and Sharyl Attkisson are remaining civil for the moment. CBS saying she has gone to pursue other endeavours and Attkisson saying it has been a great privilege and she is grateful for the opportunities they have given her.
As an Australian, I have enough problems to worry about with my own government, let alone what is happening to a news journalist, however the cynic in me looks for why this story has gotten traction? Is it because a good reporter may have been pushed out by a politically influenced news station? Is it that the Government doesn’t want you to know the truth? OR is it because Sharyl Attkisson happens to have writing a booked called “Stonewalled: One Reporters Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington” which promises to tell all kinds of scandal? That, I will leave up to you!
