Following a reference on AMC’s Breaking Bad, J Michael Staczynski announced his desire to see Babylon 5 return to TV screens as more than an obscure reference.
Writing on his twitter page he said:
Ain’t never gonna be sufficient heat for any new B5 as long as the original sits on a shelf gathering dust instead of viewers. #FreeBabylon5
— JMichael Straczynski (@straczynski)
He asked fans to get ‘organised and loud’ on his twitter account. Staczynski’s solution to this to gain a new audience for the 90’s sci fi show. Unfortunately, the creator claims that the only way to do this is by word of mouth as no network airs the show.
According to Digital Spy, Staczynski has ruled out Netflix, stating that the show needs a network, and shot down suggestions of a Kickstarter funded revival because Warner Bros still retains the rights to the show. Straczynski finished by writing, ‘This ain’t something I can do, or even directly participate in. It’s up to the fans now.’
