Christina Ricci Is Back And Ready To Whack In The Lizzie Borden Chronicles

Christina Ricci returns in a spinoff of Lifetime’s Lizzie Borden Took An Ax, titled The Lizzie Borden Chronicles.

Ax and ye shall receive. After the success of Lifetime’s 2014 TV movie Lizzie Borden Took An Ax, the network has given the notorious figure a new spin-off mini series. The Lizzie Borden Chronicles stars Christina Ricci reprising the title role.

Lifetime’s take on the character is definitely more fiction than fact. In the actual 1892 murder case, a jury couldn’t even determine if Borden was actually guilty of killing her parents. But in this re-imagining of Lizzie’s saga, Lifetime movie vice president Arturo Interian lets us know that “Lizzie’s body count gets pretty high.”

If the exploits of a nineteenth century ax murderer seem like odd fodder for Lifetime, don’t worry, because it seems like this sexy, fashionable Lizzie swings her steel like an independent, modern woman would. It also won’t come as a surprise that there’s just as much camp involved as there is gore.

“She’s playfully wicked,” Interian explains, “Occasionally killing for justice, but usually only in sick and twisted glee.”

The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, also starring Cole Hauser and Jonathan Banks, airs Sunday nights at 10/9c.
